If you walk along the Bloodwood track towards Sankeys Mountain Summit look to the right just before the junction with the Acacia track that heads off left towards Whites Hill summit lookout. You will see some logs and lots of trees and shrubs. these were planted out on our working bee in May 2021. This track was a degraded unauthorised track that had been used by mountain bikers.
The soil in Whites Hill is easily eroded. Bikes remove the topsoil and the effects of rain does the rest. What you are left with is a bare surface which does not recover. With the assistance of Habitat Brisbane who installed logs and mulch we planted about 100 native trees, grasses and shrubs which did really well.
Enjoy the view!
