Monthly Working Bees
Our Bushcare working bees are in the on every third Sunday morning of the month and last for 2 hours. We post more details, such as times and where to meet up, on our Facebook page about a week before each event.
Wear closed in shoes, a hat, a long sleeved shirt and gloves. We are usually involved in weeding or planting and afterwards we are rewarded with a morning tea which is a great opportunity to chat with the other volunteers.
We have volunteers who have been coming for many years and others who are brand new. You don't need to have any prior knowledge of Bushcare as there is a wealth of knowledge there.

Guided Bushwalks
We host two guided morning walks in the reserve every Month. They start around 8am but times can vary depending on the season. We can't guarantee koala sightings but we have some expert spotters and are seldom dissapointed
Check Facebook for event details.
On the 2nd Sunday we have Pats walk which starts from the main gate of the Children's Playground and lasts for 2 hours.
On 4th Sunday we have Peters walk which starts from The Jones Rd entrance to the reserve (near the junction with Kildare St) and lasts for 1 hour.
They are easy slow walks so we have lots of opportunity to lookout for local flora and fauna. We keep to the graded paths although we will encounter some gradients and steps (it's a hill). See map below for starting point.

Our Regular Activities & Events
Our regular activities are open for anyone to attend. You don't have to be a member of our group and you don't need to book.
Special Events
Whites Hill Junior Naturalist & Bushcare Program.
Our Whites Hill - Pine Mountain Community Group was awarded a grant to initiate a Junior Naturalist & Bushcare program. We took enrolments from youths aged 8 to 11 who wanted to attend a series of sessions at Whites Hill Reserve and learn about our local nature and how to care for it. Between January & September we’ll run six (6) events at Whites Hill to show participants how to identify the birds, animals, plants and habitats in the Reserve and the Bushcare skills needed to care for them.
Each session will be about two hours long, involving a teaching part but most of the time will be spent on active, hands-on learning. Learning materials & tools provided, plus mid-session snack & drink.
We held our 1st session from 8am on Friday January 23rd with 8 children, their parents and a few younger siblings in tow. After introductions, we spent just over an hour exploring the Bloodwood, Acacia, Summit and Tallowwood Tracks following the 'clues' of our Discovery walk.
Afterwards we enjoyed cordial & some great homemade goodies (Thanks Phyllis). Each child received a Personal Journal to write, draw, paste, etc. about what we saw. And we all got a 'prize' - a copy of the Common Vertebrates of Griffith University Campus, small compendium the common local animals
Our next session will be in a couple of months date TBA.
If this sounds like something you and your child(ren) would be interested in email Gary at gary.is.king56@gmail.com with your name and contact details

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Monday March 9th at the Holland Park Library, starting at 6:30PM.
On Wednesday morning 4/3/26 along with around 50 participants a few of us attended the Qld Govt public information workshop at Griffith University. After an introduction outlining the Strategy aims groups were asked to list the What, Why and How arguments around four main focus areas affecting koala conservation.
It was a good opportunity to network with similar minded individuals and we were hoping that our meeting on Monday would be an opportunity to pass on what we learned and offer advice on how others can submit their own ideas about koala conservation.
We will try and arrange for an alternative night this week as Sunday 15th March will be the last day for submissions.
